Problem: The customer was feeding two different bulk parts into their inline system. The parts were heavy and were rolled into the floor in a dunnage bin before being loaded by hand. Any time you are unloading a bin of heavy parts, there is a safety risk. They needed a more efficient and safe way to load the parts, sort and position them for down-the-line assembly.
Solution: Fortville built a hydraulic loading station that was custom fit to the dunnage bins. The operator simply pushed a button to lift and unload the bin. Parts were dropped into an angled hopper with a trough feeder. The hopper was designed to hold a full bin of parts. Trough feeders are used to move heavy duty parts into a feeder bowl. From there the parts were oriented and moved down an inline track for pickup by the next automated task. The feeder system was designed to handle two different sized parts.
