Problem: A manufacturer of tubular assemblies and precision machined products for the auto industry. They had a problem with extraneous materials, such as chips and shavings, getting into the ID of the machined parts as they moved down the line. This caused them to be rejected in the next phase of production. Huron was seeking a solution to increase their efficiency and decrease rejected parts.
Solution: Fortville Feeders designed a feeder bowl system with a two cube hopper to hold the machined parts. These were dropped into a 15 inch vibratory bowl, which positioned the part and sent it down the line. To combat the problem, Fortville added a mechanism along a gravity track that cleaned any loose materials from the ID of each part before sending it down line. This resulted in increased part production with much less scrap.
